Doubting Thomas'

So it's pretty funny to me how many people have come out of the woodwork since we gave birth who are totally surprised that he was so big and healthy. Apparently, we had plenty of friends and family members who totally doubted that I could grow a healthy baby as a vegan.

I guess I get the impression that they expected him to be really tiny, or sick, or something . . . YES PEOPLE, a vegan diet CAN contain all the nutrients you need to be completely healthy. LOL! You'd think that the fact that James has been vegan for 12 years and I have been vegan for six years would be enough to convince people that you can indeed sustain life on a vegan diet.

Buuut, apparently the true test is growing a baby, and the fact that we had an 8 lb, 7 oz, long, healthy baby means that we've passed. So if you were wondering, it is NOW official, a vegan diet is healthy. Mine and James' stellar bloodwork and slim figures weren't real evidence, but a healthy James David is. ;-)

i find it ridic that people can't believe that. the people that don't believe it are just uneducated about the matter i think.

I will be embarrased if she sees thi...but I have to call out Grandma in this line of thought! She was being silly on Thanksgiving and asking if A had had her milk checked. Which I believe is not normal to do, since the mother's body will give the baby everything he needs thoruh her breastmilk.. I think she just asked because she still doesn't believe that veganism is healthy/ok.

SILLARDS.

Actually Laur, I think it has something to do with blood type. Like Mom is O neg which means one or both of her parents must be O--and I think if the Mom is O and the baby isn't there can be issues with BFing--but NOWADAYS they still wouldn't tell you to STOP BFing (which I guess they told Grandma to stop Bfing Jimmy), they would handle it differently . . . at first I didn't know what to think about what Grandma said either, but then I remembered about the blood type thing and thought maybe that was what happened with her . . .
